Nina Simonović (b. 1984, Belgrade, RS) holds an MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts, Belgrade. Simonović was awarded twice the French Government Grant to study at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, and theory of art at EHSS in Paris. She is the winner of the "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award for 2016.
The formal and minimal aspect of Nina's work focuses on details, materials, their texture and their tenuous, almost imperceptible contrast. Through various media (manual and digital drawing, sound, photography, video and web), her work reveals finally the diversity of her concerns: the I and the 0, the rational and the sensible, the fast and the slow, politics and intimacy, noise and silence, violence and softness, technology and craftsmanship.
